In addition, we recommend the doctoral student advisory service at the Trimberg Research Academy.
The doctoral student advisory service supports all prospective doctoral students and doctoral candidates at the University of Bamberg by providing advice, information, networking opportunities, and events.

The Welcome Center is the first point of contact for graduates of foreign universities. For applicants who have obtained their university entrance qualification in Germany but completed their master's degree abroad, an equivalence assessment of their university certificates is carried out here. Applicants who have obtained both their university entrance qualification and further university degrees outside Germany must apply for initial admission at the Welcome Center.

Dissertations and habilitations are available for inspection in paper form in the Dean's Office. For dissertations, there is also the possibility of electronic inspection, with the prior consent of the doctoral candidates. Whether the additional option of electronic inspection is available will be communicated to those entitled to inspect the documents with the display notification.

Please note: NO exceptions will be made regarding the internal deadlines set by the Doctoral Office. The date for the public defence should only be agreed once the display period has begun in order to avoid postponing the date if the reviews are not completed on time. Only once the display period has ended (4 weeks) can invitations to the public defence be sent out (2 weeks) – the reviews must be received by the Doctoral Office at least 6 weeks before the public defence.

If you have any questions about habilitation, please contact the Dean's Office.
