Good reasons for choosing this study program

Under the sponsorship of the universities of Duisburg-Essen and Bamberg, 22 renowned lecturers and over 40 tutors from 11 German university locations form the virtual VAWi faculty. VAWi has been offered since October 2001; in the winter semester 2021/22, more than 700 students are enrolled in the distance learning programme, primarily from Germany, but also from Switzerland, Austria, the BeNeLux countries, India and Australia. VAWi now has a total of over 600 successful graduates.

The course is designed as an extra-occupational part-time course. VAWi is aimed at university, college and professional academy graduates from all disciplines who already have at least one year of professional experience in IT.

As a virtual course, VAWi offers all of the learning content over the Internet during the semester and can therefore be studied very well alongside work. There are no attendance times at the university. Only the exams at the end of the semester take place at the place of study.

As a master's program geared towards professional practice, VAWi combines practical and theoretical study units. Flexible study times and interdisciplinarity allow further training close to the job market, the contents of which can be directly applied in the job. Due to the large number of modules offered from the fields of business informatics, computer science and business administration, the course of study can be optimally adapted to the professional circumstances.

In addition, questions from professional practice can be dealt with with academic support in project and master's theses.

Thanks to modern information and communication technologies as well as flexible organization, the internet-based and modularly structured courses meet the needs of working students with the greatest possible flexibility in terms of time, space and content. Learning takes place at any PC workstation with an Internet connection, so that attendance at the university is not necessary.
