Faculty of Humanities

Profile

The Humanities Faculty (GuK) is home to the University of Bamberg’s broadest range of academic subjects. These include bachelor’s, master’s and teaching degree programmes in disciplines from the fields of linguistics and literature, philosophy and history, and archaeology and geography.

The faculty’s academic profile is characterized by a humanities focus in the individual programmes – programmes represented by fields as diverse and comprehensive as Heritage Conservation, Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Art History, as well the study of the various languages and History/European Ethnology and Geography.

A distinguishing feature of the faculty’s course offering is its emphasis on practical skills and practice-based curricula. This approach complements the theoretical and methodological aspects of each subject and prepares students to apply the skills and knowledge acquired in their studies to the tasks and challenges of their professional lives.
