The Faculty of Humanities (GuK) was formed in 2007 after the merging of the Faculty of History and Geography (GGeo) and the Faculty of Linguistics and Literary Studies (SpLit). From 2009 onwards, the Institute of Catholic Theology, which was created after the suspension of the Faculty of Catholic Theology (KTheo), is part of the Faculty of Humanities as well.
