Studies at the Faculty of Humanities
The recent transition of all subjects’ curricula and structure to a BA/ MA model has created a broad spectrum of new degree programmes within the faculty.
The further development of even more new degree programmes that will accommodate the international Bologna process is planned for the coming semesters. These will bring immediately applicable, career-oriented skills to the wealth of theoretical and methodological expert knowledge available to our students, and, in so doing, will give our graduates an edge in the domestic and international labour markets.
Moreover, teacher training programmes concluding with state examinations play a significant role in many of the faculty’s subject fields.
Following the completion of studies at the Magister, Diplom, master’s and state examination levels, students also have the option of pursuing doctoral studies.
Internships, excursions and studies abroad are constitutive elements of studies in almost all subjects.
The buildings belonging to the Humanities Faculty are located in Bamberg’s old city, and they are at the core of the university quarter which is home to central institutions like student services, dining halls and canteens, university library branches and university administration. The faculty’s individual buildings house not only seminar rooms and lecture halls, but also service facilities like computer pools and the university’s computer-aided language lab.
