We turn to LLMs for advice on all sorts of problems, often unconsciously developing a parasocial relationship with the chatbot in the process. We perceive the responses as helpful, empathetic and validating, and we rarely question how the AI simulates closeness or consider the potential consequences. In this workshop, we will use practical examples to discuss how we can develop a critical distance from AI output.
