"Let's Talk!"

Together with the student representatives, the Institute for English and American Studies now offers its students the opportunity to exchange viewpoints with each other and guest experts on a wide variety of topics in an informal discussion group once per semester.

The discussion group will meet for a fourth time on Friday, June 21, 2024 in room MG1/02.09 (Markusbuilding 1). The room is accessible to wheelchairs and students with reduced mobility. Pre-registration is not necessary!

This semester's topic are the most important tools for studying: AI (e.g. ChatGPT and DeepL), literature management software (e.g. Zotero) and e-learning tools such as Padlet, Kahoot and Mentimeter and much more.

For our informal gathering we have been able to win three wonderful colleagues from the institute and the university library, who will report on their experiences and provide information on the best use of a variety of tools:

  • Katharina Deckert
  • Dr. Inga Gerike
  • Dr. Fabian Vetter

There will be ample opportunities to ask questions and exchange ideas with the invited experts and fellow students - before, during or after the coffee break!

Alternatively, you can anonymously submit questions and comments in advance to the organizers, who will then pass them on to the experts during the discussion.  You can either use the mailbox for this specific purpose in the U9 building (on the ground floor, to the left of the entrance, marked in orange) or the following link: CryptoPad (entries are anonymous).

If you have any questions or comments, the organizers can be contacted via email:

We are looking forward to meeting you (again) in June and wish you a wonderful time until then!
