The Deans' List
Support for outstanding students at the Faculty of WIAI

By establishing The Deans’ List, the WIAI Faculty aims to recognise outstanding students and provide them with targeted support. One of the reasons for this is the statutory mandate under the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG) to support exceptional talent through specialised development opportunities. Whilst existing support schemes – such as the Deutschlandstipendium – are organised centrally, the Faculty wishes to use The Deans’ List to establish its own, faculty-based format for supporting gifted students.
The Deans’ List is under the patronage of the Faculty Management and comprises the top two per cent of the Faculty’s highest-achieving students from the second semester onwards. The prerequisites are above-average academic performance and rapid progress in studies.
For this reason, the so-called Dean’s List will be established from the summer semester of 2026, a list of the faculty’s outstanding students managed under the ‘patronage’ of the faculty management. This method of supporting gifted students is a successful tool in the Anglo-Saxon world and is also widespread in Germany. Students on this list will benefit from regular exclusive events and will receive a certificate at the end of their time on the list.
A place on the Dean’s List comes with the expectation of active and reliable participation. The faculty’s aim is to foster a culture of mutual accountability based on commitment, respect and trust.
