CHE-Ranking 2019

On May 7th the newspaper “Die Zeit” published the 2019 university ranking by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) for English/American Studies, Educational Science, German Studies, Psychology and Romance Studies. Students rate the library facilities, IT infrastructure, room situation, range of courses, study organization and support from lecturers in the respective subjects on a scale of 1 (very good) to 6 (very poor). In four out of five subjects, students gave the university library the best rating (1.7 each in German and Psychology, 1.8 in English/American Studies, 1.9 in Educational Science); in Romance Studies, the library facilities received the second best rating (1.8) behind the IT infrastructure (1.7). The CHE ranking sees ‘library facilities’ not only as the access to required literature, but also as user services, the possibilities for researching literature and the availability of work spaces within the library.

Library Director Dr. Fabian Franke is delighted with these top marks for the University Library. "This very good rating from students is a great confirmation of our work as a service facility for the university and at the same time an incentive to constantly improve and expand our range and services despite the fact that the literature budget has been stagnating for years. This is only possible thanks to the outstanding commitment of our staff, to whom I would like to express my sincere thanks."

A detailed presentation of the results of the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg in the CHE Ranking 2019 can be found in the university's press release.
