M.Sc. Double Degree in "Sociology"

About the Double Degree

As of the Winter term 2018/19 the University of Bamberg and Tilburg University offers a joint Double Degree Master's Programme in Sociology. The programme features a research-oriented curriculum from sociological theory to empirical social research. Students attend classes in sociological theory, empirical research methods, social structure analysis and social policy. The first student cohort started in the Winter term 2018/19.

Structure

The Double Degree Programme is a two-year programme that combines the contents of two Master programmes: the two-year Master's programme in "Sociology" (Soziologie) offered by the University of Bamberg and the one-year Master's programme in "Sociology" offered by Tilburg University. Students spend the first year in Bamberg and the second year in Tilburg. In the end they will obtain Master’s degrees from both programmes.

Contents

The whole programme is offered in English and taught by active and internationally experienced researchers. In the progrramme, students will experience the entire process from theory to empirical research. They will be introduced into sociological theory, state of the art research methods and will get familiar with recent developments in social structure analysis and social policy. Besides the thematic focus of the programme students have the opportunity to select additional courses from a broad range of thematic areas. At the end of the programme the Master's thesis will be jointly supervised by supervisors from both universities.

Fees and Scholarships

The University of Bamberg does not charge tuition fees, while students have to pay tuition fees at Tilburg University during their second year in the programme.
