The application period for the winter and summer semesters ends on 31 August and 28 February, respectively (exceptions apply to theses in cooperation with a company). Please note that applications submitted after the deadline will generally not be considered.

You are free to choose when to register your Master’s thesis. However, the registration date should not deviate significantly from the standard dates. These are 2 November in the winter semester and 2 May in the summer semester, with submission accordingly due on 2 March and 2 September.

No! Once you have received confirmation of a supervision place, all further steps will be handled by the Chair.

Unfortunately not. After completing the online form, you will not receive a confirmation email that your application has been submitted. Once you have clicked the “Submit” button, you can be sure that we have received your application data.

No! Unfortunately, due to our limited capacity, we can only supervise a certain number of theses. If the number of applications exceeds our capacity, we must reject some applications based on predefined criteria.

The criteria include, among other things, your academic progress to date, the selection of modules at our Chair, and your grades.

If your application is rejected, you can either apply for a supervision place at another Chair or wait until the next semester to apply again. If you reapply, your chances of receiving a supervision place may increase; however, it still cannot be guaranteed.

Yes, attendance is mandatory for the Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis seminar.

Not necessarily. For most topics, you are free to choose whether to write your thesis in English or German. However, a specific language may be required, particularly for practice-oriented theses and occasionally for certain topics.

Yes, you can also write your thesis in cooperation with a company. Further information can be found at the following link.
