Registration of Abbreviations
Eligibility to apply
By default, an abbreviation is entered
- for an organizational unit of the University of Bamberg that is listed in the university’s organizational code with an organizational unit number, or
- for a project that is tracked under a project number in the university's project code.
In exceptional cases, codes may also be entered for tasks that are not assigned to a registered organizational unit or project. In such cases, a justification must be provided.
Eligible to submit an application are the head of the organizational unit or project listed in the organizational management system, or a person who holds a managerial position and is responsible for another task.
Procedure
To register an abbreviation, please use the online form Request to Establish an Abbreviation. The form may be completed by anyone. However, it will not be forwarded to the relevant authorities until it has been confirmed by the head of the institution or the person responsible for the relevant task, as indicated on the form.
The requested abbreviations will be reviewed by the relevant university departments, in consultation with university administration if necessary. If there are any concerns regarding a selected abbreviation, the relevant departments will contact the applicant directly to work out a mutually agreeable solution.
Once all concerns have been addressed, the abbreviation will be added to the list of abbreviations, and the applicant will be notified. From that point on, the applicant may apply for or set up website addresses, email addresses, etc.
