Introductory days (EET) Information Systems and Applied Computer Sciences

Welcome to the introductory days at the faculty WIAI!

Dear first semester students,

During the first semester introduction days (EET), a variety of events are offered to make your start into your studies at the University of Bamberg as easy as possible. The most important event is the subject introduction with the timetable tutorial, which is offered for every degree programme. This tutorial should be attended and helps to start the first weeks of your studies in an organised and stress-free way. It is recommended to attend as many on-site events as possible in order to get the best possible start to your studies.

Further tips, links and documents on the EET

There are only a very limited number of free, temporary parking spaces at ERBA (except for the paid parking garage). It is recommended to come to the university by bike, on foot or by bus. Throughout the EET week, the ERBA cafeteria will be open, where you can buy sandwiches, snacks and more. There is also a hot vegetarian meal on offer on the days of the timetable tutorials. During the lecture period, the ERBA cafeteria has a hot meal (often, but not always vegetarian) every day from Monday to Friday. There is also a bakery and sushi, among other things, near the university.

Important information about studying in Bamberg - the modules to choose from, a summary of the online services, details about the ERBA building and other university buildings as well as tips and tricks about life as a student in Bamberg can be found in the WIAI first semester brochures.

In order to keep a good overview of the numerous online services of the University of Bamberg, the student council offers a collection of short links so that the right page is always at hand.

During the EET, some presentations on the timetable tutorials, the welcome and the subject introductions will be uploaded to the WIAI student council site so that the most important information can be looked up again.

Contact Us

Student Council WIAI

The WIAI student council, as the student representation of the WIAI faculty, tries to help with as many questions as possible in an uncomplicated way. A short e-mail to fachschaft-wiai.stuve(at)uni-bamberg.de or a visit to the student council office (WE5/02.104) will already help with many questions.

It is also important to the WIAI student council to promote social life outside the lecture halls. To this end, we organise events such as waffle campaigns, the summer party, the Christmas party, pub crawls, the LaTeX tutorial and much more. To ensure that you don't miss any of the various activities and that you are always aware of the important dates, you can subscribe to our newsletter or follow the student council on Instagram.

Subject advisory service

Do you have questions about a specific degree programme? The subject advisors are a suitable point of contact for detailed and further information on the content and structure of the degree programme. Among other things, they provide assistance with questions about the focus of academic work, learning and working techniques in their subject as well as the relevant examination and study regulations of the University of Bamberg. The subject-related study advisor should be contacted in particular by students who are changing universities when checking whether they can receive credit for work already completed (at another university or in another degree programme). The subject-related study advisors are usually lecturers of the corresponding subject.

Central Student Advisory Service

If you have questions or problems about studying - whether before, during or at the end of your studies - you are welcome to contact the Central Student Advisory Service. Together with you, we will try to provide information and clarify your motivation to support your decision and work out possible solutions for your concerns. More detailed information can be found on the Student Counselling website.

The Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB), the subject representatives and the WIAI student council wish you a good start to your studies at the University of Bamberg!

Help and FAQ

What do I have to do before the EET starts on 09.04.?

Not much, actually. The priority should be to complete the move, get used to the new city or simply enjoy the break again.

If you take part in the local events, you will get as good as all the relevant information there. It is already very good to have read through the contents of this website.

In particular, you don't have to have created a timetable yet, and you don't have to be a pro at using the IT systems. We will help you to understand, create and set up everything easily during your first week.

You should also follow us on social media and check your university e-mail regularly so that you don't miss any updates.

See you soon!

I don't have any university access data yet.

That shouldn't be a problem. You will find all the information you need on this website to take part in your tutorial and other events on site.

I have detailed questions about the creation of my timetable or about individual modules.

Please wait until your timetable tutorial. There you will have the opportunity to ask all your questions to experienced tutors. If you still have questions, please contact the student council by email.

Unfortunately, I cannot be on site during the first semester induction days.

That is a pity, but it is not hopeless. In this case, you should read the information that you find on this website and that you received when you enrolled, in particular detail. Unfortunately, we cannot offer complete timetable tutorials for individuals, but if you have specific questions, you are welcome to contact the student council or the respective student advisory service.

I have studied in Bamberg before. How important are the EETs for me?

In this case, you will already know a lot of the content. The online services and timetable creation should be familiar to you, and you won't be a stranger in Bamberg either. However, we still recommend that you take part in some events. In the subject introduction, the formal requirements of the degree programme are explained again clearly in case you don't know your way around the difficult-to-read study and examination regulations. The social events in particular are very important, as you will get to know the fellow students who will accompany you throughout the coming semesters.
