Final Thesis Registration Information

Information sheet on steps to the BA/MA thesis (GuK/Huwi Faculties)
1.    Please review the examination and study regulations that apply to you, especially the regulations on the topic of Bachelor’s/Master’s theses, and observe the following registration requirements:

  • Prior to registration, the requirements for admission to the thesis as stipulated in your examination and study regulations must be fulfilled.
  • To be admitted, and until the submission date of your thesis, you must be regularly enrolled, i.e. you may not be on leave unless you are entitled to complete academic work during the semester on leave due to special legal provisions (e.g. parental leave, periods of care for a close relative).


The issue date for your topic must also be chosen in accordance with your examination and study regulations so that the degree programme can be completed within the maximum allowed duration of study.

2.    Send your application for admission to the BA/MA thesis from your “stud.uni-bamberg.de” email address (applications from other email addresses cannot be processed!) to huwi.pruefungen(at)uni-bamberg.de, beruflichebildung.pruefungen(at)uni-bamberg.de, guk.pruefungen(at)uni-bamberg.de, or masterdenkmalpflege.pruefungen(at)uni-bamberg.de. Please use the subject heading “Registration for thesis in the degree programme ...” and include the following information:

Surname, first name (spelling as it appears in your official identity card with all first names and, if applicable, special characters!)
Student registration number
Examinier (and if applicable second examiner)
Where applicable, the sub-discipline to which the thesis is allocated
Please check your address in FlexNow and update it using the online services if necessary.


3.    The Office of Examinations will verify the admission requirements. If the admission requirements are fulfilled, you will receive an email. 

4.    Please enter the approved topic, the examiner(s) and any other information and then forward the email to your examiner(s) for confirmation.


5.    The examiner or the responsible academic unit will then forward it to the Office of Examinations.

6.    After the Office of Examinations has received the confirmed topic, it will be entered in FlexNow.You will receive a final email about this.  You can view your submission deadline in FlexNow.

7.    If the FlexNow entry is not made promptly, please ask your examiner or second examiner whether the email has been forwarded to the Office of Examinations.

Information sheet on steps to the BA/MA thesis (SoWi/WIAI Faculties)

1. Read the general examination regulations and the study and subject examination regulations which apply to your degree programme, particularly the rules referring to the bachelor’s / master’s thesis, and adhere to the following admission requirements:

  • Obtain supervision consent from the desired academic department prior to applying for admission.
  • In order to be admitted to your final thesis, you must have already attained the required number of ECTS points outlined in the general examination regulations and study and subject examination regulations prior to registration.
  • Your topic must be selected from the subjects listed in the general examination regulations and study and subject examination regulations. In certain cases, it is necessary to submit an application of topic approval to your examining board prior to thesis registration.
  • You must be regularly enrolled both at the time of admission and on the day you submit your completed thesis, meaning that you cannot be in a semester on leave unless there are specific legal provisions (for example parental leave, care of a close relative) which authorise you to earn degree credit while on leave.

Furthermore, the date on which you receive the topic of your thesis has to be selected in accordance with applicable general examination regulations and study and subject examination regulations to ensure that your course of studies can be completed within the maximum permitted duration of study.

 

2. Send your application for admission to your BA / MA thesis from your “stud.uni-bamberg.de”email address (requests from other email addresses cannot be processed!) with the reference “Registration final thesis in the degree programme….” (do not use abbreviations) to sowi.pruefungen(at)uni-bamberg.de or to wiai.pruefungen(at)uni-bamberg.de and include the following information:

Last name, first name, middle names (spelled exactly as they appear in your passport,with first name and all middle names and, if applicable, special symbols!) 

Student registration number

Proposed examiner including his or her academic department (chair, professorship, etc.) 

Email address (private, for possible questions/notifications)

 

3. After reviewing the registration requirements the office of examinations will send you an email. You will also receive an information sheet with the request to follow the instructions. At the same time, your examiner or the secretary of the department will receive a copy of the email in “CC” for acknowledgement.

4. Next, Please enter in the table from the email the agreed topic, the examiners, and any additional details, and then forward the email to your examiners for confirmation.

5. The forwarding to the examination office is then carried out by the examiners or the chair.

6. After the confirmed topic has been received by the office of examinations, it will be entered into FlexNow. You will receive a final email about this. Your submission date is visible to you in FlexNow.

7. If the entry in FlexNow is not made promptly, please ask your examiner or second examiner whether the email has been forwarded to the examination office.

8. IMPORTANT: Please follow the instructions on how to prepare your bachelor’s /master’s thesis which will be send to you by the office of examinations via email.

 

The bachelor's or master's thesis must be submitted digitally in PDF/A file format via the form server: https://form.uni-bamberg.de/form/alias/1/einreichung-ba-ma-arbeit/.

Please note the information provided on the form server (e.g. file size and file name).

Before submitting your thesis, you must confirm that you have written it independently, that you have not used any sources or aids other than those specified, and that it can be subjected to a software-supported, anonymised plagiarism check.

After uploading your thesis, you will receive confirmation of receipt by email to your University of Bamberg student email address.

Please note that in addition to the digital submission of your thesis, one or two paper copies (identical to the digital version) may need to be submitted to the examiner(s) if requested by the examiners.

All documents must be submitted by the deadline. This applies both to the electronic submission of the thesis and to the submission of any files (interviews, data, software, etc.) related to the thesis. Save these on a USB stick and hand it over to the examiner.
