Bamberger Graduiertenschule für Smart City Science

Short Profile

The Bamberg Graduate School for Smart City Science is a cross-faculty academic institution at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg, founded in November 2024. One of the school’s key goals is to improve the quality of life in urban public spaces through research projects and the use of digital innovations. Research in the areas of Smart Cities and Smart Regions is to be made practically applicable, not least through close cooperation with the City of Bamberg.

The Graduate School and the Smart City Research Lab regularly host interdisciplinary seminars, colloquia, and lecture series that offer multi-perspective insights into a variety of fields. Currently, doctoral candidates from computer science, geography, psychology, and digital heritage technologies are conducting research within the program. Applications for admission to the Graduate School are accepted on a rolling basis. Doctoral candidates from all disciplines are eligible to apply, if their research relates thematically to Smart Cities or Smart Regions.
