- Compulsory for all students of English & American Studies (= if you wish to take courses in English literature, English culture, English linguistics); this in particular applies to exchange students whose mother tongue is not English. Test does not apply to Business English.

- HaF = Hörer und Hörerinnen aller Fakultäten (= students of all faculties)
- Compulsory for all students who wish to take English HaF courses that are offered by the Language Centre (Sprachenzentrum).
- Important: The HaF Placement Test is not a substitute or equivalent of the Anglistik Einstufungstest (see above).
