Part-time Studies
At the University of Bamberg, almost all degree programmes can be studied part-time.
The prerequisite for this is enrolment in the respective part-time degree programme.
In degree programmes with unlimited admission, it is possible to change from full-time to part-time studies any semester by applying by post to the Registrar’s Office during the enrolment/re-registration period of the respective semester. A change between full-time and part-time studies in degree programmes with restricted admission is only possible if you apply for and are granted a place in the respective degree programme.
The standard programme duration for a part-time degree programme is twice as long as for a full-time degree programme. You can earn a maximum of 18 ECTS per semester in a part-time degree. If you exceed this maximum number of ECTS points, two part-time semesters will be counted.
If you wish to enrol part-time from the very beginning of your studies, please complete the online enrolment for a ‘full-time programme’ and additionally send the application for part-time studies together with the enrolment documents.
Changing to a part-time programme is not possible if you have already begun a bachelor’s or master’s thesis in a full-time degree programme.
For further information on part-time studies as well as a list of degree programmes and subjects that can be studied part-time, please see: Regulations for part-time study in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes at the University of Bamberg.
