Contents: This module provides comprehensive knowledge of the basic terms and concepts in the context of digitalization and the digital transformation of organizations. The course covers the definitions and core elements of digitalization as well as the fundamentals of digital transformation. Current trends, technologies and framework conditions that significantly influence digital transformation are analyzed. With regard to the digital changes, the effects of products, services and organizational structures are analyzed and it is shown which competencies are essential in a digital company.

Learning objectives/skills: The aim of the module is to impart in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of digital companies. After completing the module, students should be able to understand relevant literature in relation to digitized business areas in order to be able to analyze and critically evaluate transformation concepts within various business areas.

The workload for this lecture and exercise is roughly divided as follows:

  • Participation in the input sessions on the basics of digital organizations
  • Self-study and preparation of presentations in individual or group work
  • Processing of in-depth tasks in individual or group work
  • Preparation of a term paper
