At the Chair of Political Theory at the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg, two positions are expected to be available from 1 November 2026 as Doctoral Researchers / Research Associates (m/f/d) in the DFG project “Disinformation, Democracy and Epistemic Breakdown” (65% of regular working hours; remuneration according to TV-L E13)

The positions are fixed-term for 36 months, subject to final funding approval, and offer the opportunity to pursue a doctorate.

About the project

The project investigates how disinformation can undermine trust in fellow citizens, the media, science, and political institutions. It focuses on how perceived manipulative intent at the individual level may develop into broader dynamics of distrust and epistemic breakdown in democratic societies.

The project combines political theory and normative democratic theory with agent-based modelling. Its findings will also be translated into an interactive web-based educational tool for schools and the wider public.
