Lecture series: Denkmal fluid

A lecture series on current issues in history and theory of heritage conservation

In the lecture series Denkmal fluid at KDwt reknown scholars from diverse fields within the discipline (Architecture, History, Digital Heritage Technologies, Heritage Studies) will address pressing issues in heritage conservation.

Heritage, understood both as specific sites and as a field of theoretical inquiry and practice is confronting significant challenges arising from climate change and the erosion of social cohesion. At the same time, heirtage assumes a dual role in these processes: it is a cultural asset requiring protection and care, but also a resource that can support processes of social and environmental transformation. To effectively navigate these changes, the discipline must re-evaluate traditional narratives and practices of conservation. How is the concept of heritage evolving in response to these urgent issues? What new paradigms are emerging that challenge established disciplinary histories? How do alternative perspectives in theory and practice contribute to timely strategies for safeguarding cultural and natural heritage?
