    35th International Summer University

Bamberg Welcomes Students and Instructors From Around the World.

The University of Bamberg’s International Summer University is currently in session for its 35th year. Over the course of the four-week summer programme, students and instructors from around the globe convene to discuss, share and present knowledge and ideas on German language and culture.
The title of this year’s summer session is “The Journey: from literary motif to narrative structures and epistemological perspectives,” and the programme offers the international group of students and instructors of German the opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and regional culture.

    A Diverse Programme

From the 2nd to the 29th of August, the 100 programme participants from 29 countries will participate in a multifaceted programme which includes literature, regional studies, excursions and workshops on the German language and culture. Seminars offered this year include fields ranging from “Five Hundred Years of German Sea Songs and Ballads,” “Departures for New and Fantastic Worlds” and “Politics in Germany – Germans and the Vote,” to theatre and communication workshops. And of course Bamberg’s own culture and history are also represented.

The international guests were officially welcomed with an address on the 3rd of August. From among this year’s many international participants, China and Ukraine are particularly well-represented.
