Introductory courses (basic module)

  • Introduction to British and American Cultural Studies (Aşar, Tuesdays, 9:55-12:10 a.m., KR12/00.05)
  • Introduction to English and American Literary Studies (Konopka, Tuesdays, 4-6 p.m., U5/00.24) + tutorial (Bürger, time and room to be announced soon)

Seminars (advanced module)

  • Masters of American Cinema: Decentering the Canon (Banita, Mondays, 4-6 p.m., MG2/01.02) Info: Each of the 12 films discussed in the course will be shown the week before its respective session in the "Media Session" (see below)!
  • Feminist Theory, Feminist Fiction: Transatlantic Conversations (Spychala, Wednesdays, 4-6 p.m., LU19/00.11)*

  • U.S. Political Satire (Feier, bi-weekly Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m., U9/01.11)**
  • American Studies and the Planetary: Perspectives, Histories, Futures[Master Theory Seminar] (Gerhardt, bi-weekly Wednesdays, 12-4pm, room to be announced) ** Info: This seminar takes place in conjunction with Yıldız Aşar's Übung "Storied Planet: Ecological Crisis, Anthropocene, and American Studies", forming an optional 10-ECTS-module: The Planetary.
  • Immigration and Exile in America: Historical and Literary Perspectives (Gerhardt & Freitag, block seminar from 27 September to 4 October 2024 in Manigod, France)**
