Provisional programme

To begin with, René Aquarius, speaking from the perspective of a researcher and ‘Science Sleuth’, and Ulrich Herb, speaking on behalf of an infrastructure organisation, will deliver a joint keynote addressing the role Open Science plays in collectively shaping knowledge. In particular, they will focus on the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, global uncertainty and the threat of scientific knowledge losing its significance.

Afterwards, you are warmly invited to take an active part in the group discussion.

In keeping with the festival’s theme, we invite you to take part in a Data Challenge in the field of Music Information Retrieval, which brings Open Science principles to life in a practical way.

One session will be dedicated to the implementation of Open Science in Horizon Europe projects funded by the European Commission.

Practical and hands-on: byte is organising its own workshop as part of the festival.

Growing together over the course of a year: as part of “Share & Connect”, mentors and mentees come together to exchange challenges and ideas in the field of open science and to develop their skills together. The programme kicks off with a joint “Share & Connect” workshop during the festival.

To round off the event, Nora Gomringer, writer and director of the International Artists’ House Villa Concordia in Bamberg, will deliver a keynote speech, followed by short presentations of exciting citizen science projects – including the Love Letter Archive and LBV. In the subsequent panel discussion, we will explore some fascinating questions together: How can we achieve genuine public participation in science? What added value does citizen science bring to research and society? And what are the limits and challenges of this collaboration?

This part of the programme will be open to the interested public. This is entirely in the spirit of openness and marks the first time in the history of the Open Science Festival in the German-speaking world.
