We are currently offering up to 6 starter scholarships for doctoral candidates.
The scholarships will be available from April 1st, 2017, for one year.
Applications for the scholarship year April 2017 - March 2018 are accepted from August 23, 2016, until October 31, 2016. The deadline for the submission of your application is October 31st, 2016.
JAN O. JONSSON
On Wednesday, 19th of October, Jan O. Jonsson from the University of Oxford will hold a guest lecture in the framework of our monthly colloquium. His lecture will be on the highly current topic of:
'Integration of Immigrant Youth in European Societies: The Case of Wellbeing'
At the Department of Sociology of the University of Oxford, Prof. Jonsson's main research interest is social stratification - this includes studies of educational inequality, the class structure, and social mobility as well as intergenerational processes.

IN ESSENCE. PERSONALITIES OF RESEARCH
The Graduate School wants to provide a framework for research realization and furthermore aims to promote the works and the researchers themselves. To showcase their work, we developed the concept of a research exhibition where the individually designed research portfolios are featured next to the portraits.
THIRD ANNUAL BAGSS CONFERENCE
"WHEN THE STATE INTERVENES"
From 20-21st of July 2016 the third annual inter-disciplinary BAGSS Conference took place right here in Bamberg. It brought together over 100 participants, both graduate students and leading scholars in the field. A number of cross disciplinary sessions ranging from education to migration and normative issues relating to state intervention proved a powerful platform for dynamic and challenging discussions.
