WHAT PEOPLE KNOW AND THINK: The Role of Attitudes and Information in the Process of Political Decision-Making and Policy Use
The inter-disciplinary workshop, scheduled for March 16 and 17, 2017, will focus on decision-making regarding the design and take-up of policy, especially which role the availability of information and personal or political attitudes play in that process.

On March 16, 2017, Prof. Dr. Pamela Sammons from the University of Oxford will hold a guest lecture on: Measuring Students' Experiences of Secondary School and Their Effects on Academic Outcomes at GCSE: Findings from the EPPSE 3-16+ Study in England
Pamela Sammons is a Professor of Education at the Department of Education, University of Oxford. Her main interest lies in policy relevant educational research. Her further research interests include: Educational effectiveness and the promotion of equality in education, school improvement and educational reform, early years education and longitudinal studies.

The Graduate School is privileged to host the ECPR Winter School in Methods and Techniques since 2015. One of the academic convenors, Benoît Rihoux states that the Winter School is designed to be all-encompassing. He shares some insights and his vision in an interview.
IN ESSENCE. PERSONALITIES OF RESEARCH
The Graduate School wants to provide a framework for research realization and furthermore aims to promote the works and the researchers themselves. To showcase their work, we developed the concept of a research exhibition where the individually designed research portfolios are featured next to the portraits.
THIRD ANNUAL BAGSS CONFERENCE
"WHEN THE STATE INTERVENES"
From 20-21st of July 2016 the third annual inter-disciplinary BAGSS Conference took place right here in Bamberg. It brought together over 100 participants, both graduate students and leading scholars in the field. A number of cross disciplinary sessions ranging from education to migration and normative issues relating to state intervention proved a powerful platform for dynamic and challenging discussions.
