Meeting the challenges of the future will require managers educated in integrated study programmes transcending borders. This is why, within the field of business administration and management, the University of Bamberg and its partner universities offer the opportunity of joint study programmes with a bi-national nature.
Studies abroad are an integral part of the Bamberg curriculum with the aim to cultivate important skills such as foreign language proficiency, flexibility, and intercultural competence. As a graduate of the programme, you will not only be a part of an exclusive circle, but you will also have proven your commitment and motivation. Currently, we are offering double degree programmes in business sciences with the following partner institutions:
Bachelor in Business Administration
Master in Business Administration
In double degree programmes you will discover some of the advantages of studying at a smaller university. We offer excellent support throughout your studies and provide counsellors with extensive experience in all of our study programmes.
Please do not hesitate to contact us in person, over the phone or by email with any questions you may have – even during the application process.

Double degree programmes at the Bachelor level
The double bachelor programmes in Business Administration are part of the Bachelor in Business Administration. The admission requirements of the bachelor degrees are a formal requirement for candidates to be eligible for the double degrees. While applying for the double degree, students additionally have to matriculate for the Bachelor in Business Administration. We recommend students to matriculate in due time, also considering the processing time at the students office.
You will find further information about the bachelor degree and the matriculation process here:
- You will find curriculum, structure, contact persons and further information on the homepage of Business Administration.
- You will find admission requirements and information regarding the admission process on the homepage of the student´s office.
- General information and the access to the admission tool can be found on the homepage of the student´s office.

Participation in the double degree programme requires a separate application; you can start a double degree only in winter semester. Prerequisite for admission to the programme is enrolment in the first semester of the bachelor's degree programme in business administration. The admission procedures for the double degree and for the bachelor's program take place separately; admission to the double degree does not trigger admission to the bachelor's programme and does not in itself constitute admission to study in Bamberg. Students must enrol in the bachelor's programme in addition to their application for a place in the double degree programme. Conditional admission to the double bachelor's program is granted by the Faculty of Social Sciences prior to the start of the study programme in Bamberg approximately two weeks after the application deadline, while enrolment in the bachelor's program is granted separately by the Registrar's Office.
Applications for the double degree programme should be sent by e-mail to studium-international.sowi(at)uni-bamberg.de no earlier than June. The following documents are required for application (PDF attachments):
- Letter of motivation in English or German
- Proof of the necessary language skills (these can be found on the programme pages)
- University entrance qualification
- Curriculum vitae
Schematically, the application procedure as well as the first year of study in the double bachelor can be described as follows:

The application to the double degrees in Business Administration is part of the online applications for the master degrees in Business Administration and Finance and Accounting. The admission requirements of the master degrees are a formal requirement for candidates to be eligible for the double degrees.

Admission to a double degree programme granted by the University of Bamberg is generally provisional until the student has also been admitted by the partner university. This can only take place during the first year in Bamberg, since it is dependent upon other criteria (advancement of studies, not yet completed language tests, etc.)
Should you receive an acceptance letter for one of the master’s programmes but not a place in a double degree programme, your admission to the regular master’s programme remains valid. You will still have the opportunity to apply for regular studies abroad.
The application period for the 2022/23 winter semester begins alongside the opening of the online application to the master’s degree programme in business administration and management and ends on
Admission to double degree programmes in Bamberg (home institution) is only possible during winter semester. The application for double degree programmes is part of the applications for the master’s degree programmes in Business Administration and in Finance and Accounting; during the application period, it is integrated into the degree programme’s online application. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from students already enrolled into the regular master’s degree programme. You will find more information about the online application procedure as well as entrance requirements here:
Please be aware of the shorter application deadlines for the double degree programmes. In addition to regular application materials, you must also provide:
- Statement of motivation in German
- Curriculum vitae
- Verification of language proficiency
- Certificate of previous academic achievement/University Diploma (Verification of university or equivalent degree, including all individual marks, in accordance with §28 par. 1 no. 1 of the Examination Regulations for the Master’s Degree Programme in Business Administration and Management. Applicants who cannot provide a degree certificate by the deadline should include in their application verification that they have earned a minimum of 150 ECTS points. In this case, it is also necessary to provide a certificate issued by the university from which the student will receive the certificate of graduation, which will contain a fictitiously calculated average final mark, whereby the missing marks from courses not yet completed is assumed to be4,0)
Generally, you can apply for one or more degree programmes. One statement of motivation is sufficient if you are applying for more than one programme. You can adapt this statement to your preferred programme or to the application for a double degree programme in general.
In any case, please make sure to send the required verification of language proficiency for all of the programmes you are applying for!
After being selected by their home university and after receipt of the acceptance letter from the partner university, students are admitted to the double degree programme. Admission by a partner university is generally a formality and does not require a separate selection process. Applications to the double degree programme sent directly to a partner university will not be accepted.
