BOSNET - Cross-Agency Approach to Disinformation
Digital disinformation weakens the operational capabilities of public safety and security agencies (BOS) by undermining public trust in democratic institutions. A lack of personnel and technical resources, as well as insufficient cross-agency coordination, slow down and complicate both the detection and assessment of disinformation and the development of appropriate countermeasures. Artificial intelligence can address this issue by identifying disinformation in a transparent and explainable manner. The goal of the BOSNET project is therefore to develop an AI system that strengthens the ability of BOS to address digital disinformation. The system is designed to detect multimedia, multilingual disinformation on social media, accelerate the exchange of counter-information, and support the coordination of communication strategies.
The project is coordinated by the University of Potsdam and is funded by the BMFTR. In addition to the University of Bamberg, the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, the University of Cologne, Virtimo AG, and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief / Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) are also participating in the project.
