Thomas Kude ist Professor für Wirtschaftsinformatik und Plattformökonomie an der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg. Zuvor war er von 2018 bis 2022 an der ESSEC Business School in Frankreich als Associate Professor und von 2016 bis 2018 als Assistant Professor tätig. Er promovierte und habilitierte sich an der Universität Mannheim.

In seiner Forschung interessiert er sich für die Entwicklung und Anwendung von Informationssystemen auf verschiedenen Analyseebenen. Seine aktuelle Forschung konzentriert sich vor allem auf digitale Innovationen in Organisationen und in Teams. So hat er beispielsweise die Steuerung und Entwicklung digitaler Plattformen und Ökosysteme in verschiedenen Bereichen untersucht, darunter Unternehmenssoftware und mobile Anwendungen. In weiteren Forschungsprojekten hat er die Zusammenarbeit in Teams untersucht, insbesondere in Softwareentwicklungsteams.

Seine Arbeiten wurden in verschiedenen Fachzeitschriften veröffentlicht, darunter MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research und Information Systems Journal. 2018 erhielt er den AIS Early Career Award der Association for Information Systems; 2019 den Best Paper Award der Zeitschrift Information Systems Research.

Er ist Associate Editor der Zeitschriften MIS Quarterly und Business & Information Systems Engineering und gehört dem Editorial Review Board des Journal of the Assocation for Information Systems an.
