Admission and Enrolment

Formal admissions requirements

  • This bachelor’s minor subject does not have limited admissions numbers. It is strongly recommended to start your studies in the winter semester. The formal admissions requirement is the general university entrance qualification.
  • The degree programme is taught in German. For enrollment and successful study, you need knowledge of German. Please check here for necessary language skills for Bachelor studies or participation in an exchange programme.

The University of Bamberg’s Academic Registrar’s Office handles enrolment.

Please also clarify the entry and residence regulations that apply to your nationality in advance with the authorities in charge (e.g. German embassies or consulates).

Other requirements

As well as the general university entrance qualification or a qualification recognised as being equivalent, you should be interested in a wide range of cultural topics and have an inquisitive attitude towards analysing and interpreting texts, images and symbols in order to study European Ethnology.

From you, we expect openness towards ‘other’ and ‘unfamiliar’ ways of thinking and living, and a willingness to get actively involved in classes and project work.
