AI- and VR-Supported Interaction

This project aims to develop research-based teacher training modules on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) to foster meaning-focused interaction in English language education. The research focuses on three interrelated components: (1) the development of a theory-informed and research-based conceptual framework, (2) the design and implementation of tasks in collaboration with teachers, and (3) the analysis of learners' interaction through technology-mediated tasks and with AI- and VR-avatars during speaking tasks. The project develops practical use cases and research-informed guidelines to support a principled and pedagogically sound integration of AI and VR, with the aim of fostering meaning-focused interaction in ELT.
