Application Procedure

Calls for Application are published on a regular, semester basis. Scholarships may start at a later point or be terminated prior to the twelve-month funding period, provided that the doctoral member has completed their doctoral studies and submitted the doctoral thesis. An extension of the scholarship beyond twelve months is not possible.

Applications for the Completion Scholarships (period October 2024 - September 2025) are accepted from 15 December 2023 until 15 March 2024.

Your application must include the following documents:
 

• A short cover letter
• Your CV (including full contact information)
• The completed form Application for One Completion Scholarship - Progress Report and Work Schedule(166.9 KB)
• A copy of your Admission as a doctoral student to the Faculty (Promotionszulassung)
• A statement from your first supervisor that briefly reviews the progress of your dissertation so far and assesses the prospects for the project to be completed within the funding period of twelve months. The statement can also be sent separately via email to admissions.bagss(at)uni-bamberg.de
• Your Agreement of Supervision
• Your latest Individual Research Training Plan (IRTP), to ensure that milestones have been agreed and discussed on a regular basis
• A current draft of your dissertation, i.e. copies of allarticles or all drafted chaptersas they stand at the time of application. Please send the texts as a single PDF alongside your application.

Please, do not attach any documents other than those requested to facilitate the processing of your application.

All application materials must be submitted in English or German.
 

All documents need to be submitted as a single PDF (max. 30 MB) except for the current draft of your dissertation as stated above.
