An Introduction to Public Economics and Epidemics

This course (lecture + tutorial) offers an introduction to key concepts of publiceconomics, networks, and epidemics and investigates their connections. InMicroeconomics II (Mikroökonomik II) we discussed already important reasonsfor market failures such as external effects, public goods, market power, andasymmetric information. After an introduction to epidemiological models ofcontagious diseases and related network models, we recap and further developour understanding of key concepts of public economics and apply them to networkeffects and epidemics.
