International BaTEG Networking Event

Dates: 27-28 September 2021, further dates in October and November

International Networking in Times of the Pandemic

In September 2021, the BaTEG partner universities came together for two days in order to intensify communication and cooperation, to identify common ground and opportunities for cooperation at various levels, from student exchanges to research, and to determine which projects could be tackled together in the future. In the framework of the this two-day online conference, the universities introduced themselves, explained how teacher training is organised at their university and in their country, and discussed opportunities for cooperation.

As a consequence, colleagues from Bamberg and the partner universities got to know each other and began talking about their research and teaching. What followed was a month of international guest lectures in Bamberg’s undergraduate and graduate courses by researchers from the partner universities.

We would like to thank our colleagues from the partner universities as well as from Bamberg for the inspiring discussions, ideas, and for their openness. We hope to see you again soon!

Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Bamberg Teacher Education for a Global World project aims at internationalising teacher education by creating exchange opportunities for teacher training students, providing them with opportunities to make international experiences at home, and fostering international relations and networking with teacher education institutions abroad.

In the context of this project, we are organising an online networking event with all BaTEG partner universities, which will take place on September 27th and 28th and on several dates in October and November. The event consists of three phases, each building up on the previous one:

1) The BaTEG Networking Conference, Sept 27-28

The aim of this networking event is to intensify communication and cooperation, to identify common ground and opportunities for cooperation at various levels, from student exchanges to research, and to determine which projects could be tackled together in the future. The conference serves as a kind of "teaser": the universities first introduce themselves and show, among other things, how teacher training is organised at their university and on which levels there could be opportunities for cooperation. Any member of the University of Bamberg and the partner universities can join for the entire or parts of the conference.

2) Meetings in October

Based on the conference talks, in the following 1-4 weeks, we would like to discuss potential future projects in smaller groups of interested colleagues. Any member of the University of Bamberg and the respective partner universities is cordially invited to join the talks, which are supposed to bring likeminded research, teaching and administrative staff members together and foster collaboration between the universities. This is also a good opportunity to get to know some colleagues for the guest lectures in November (see phase 3).

The dates and registration details will be announced in due course.

3) International November

Guest lectures with a relevance for Lehramt students:

BaTEG gives all teaching staff at the University of Bamberg the opportunity to invite guest lecturers from the BaTEG partner universities for their seminars, lectures and departments.

International evening for students and staff:

Date and details to be announced in due course.
