Research

Our research brings together artificial intelligence, robotics and multimodal interaction. We study how intelligent systems can perform tasks and work with people while adapting to new situations. Our work addresses mutual understanding and the ability for robots to act autonomously. Developing the underlying software is also a key focus.

Robotic systems face particular challenges when human input is ambiguous, tasks change, or multiple actions need to be coordinated. How can they handle these situations and make their behavior understandable to people? To investigate these questions, we develop and evaluate AI methods and approaches to designing intelligent systems.
