Dr. Verena Benoit ist derzeit wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin (Postdoc) am Lehrstuhl für Politische Soziologie. Davor war sie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Empirische Theorien der Politik an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2020 - 2024), Gastwissenschaftlerin an der Princeton University (NJ) und Gastdozentin für Soziologie an der Hochschule für Kommunikation und Gestaltung (HfK+G) in Ulm (2017-2020).

Ihre Promotion schloss sie im Jahr 2023 an der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg und der Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS) zum Thema ‚Bridge or Barrier? Religious Identification’s Role in Shaping Attitudes toward Immigrants and Immigration in the European Context‘ (https://doi.org/10.20378/irb-58562) ab. Zuvor studierte sie an der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg Soziologie mit dem Schwerpunkt 'Migration, Integration und Bevölkerung‘.

In ihrer Forschung beschäftigt sie sich unter anderem mit der Bedeutung sozialer (insbesondere religiöser) Identität bei der Formierung von Einstellungen, insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit Haltungen gegenüber Migranten und Einwanderungspolitik.
