Summer School 2021: Multilingualism in the Classroom (online)

With globalisation and migration processes increasing, classrooms are becoming more and more diverse - not only culturally, but also linguistically. Many pupils speak two or more languages. Some use a different language at home than at school, some are in the process of learning the country’s official language, some come from multilingual backgrounds. While this linguistic diversity can certainly be a challenge for teachers and pupils alike, it also has high potential for teaching and learning. The first BaTEG Summer School, which took place online on Septemer 23rd and 24th, 2021, addressed these challenges and opportunities in a series of lectures and workshops, given by international scholars as well as colleagues from Bamberg, and designed for the needs of future teachers.
