Symposium on AI in Care

Markus Rickert opened the talks at the “KI in der Pflege” symposium and took part in the panel discussion.

The “KI in der Pflege” symposium at the University of Bamberg on April 24, 2026, examined how AI could support care professionals. Participants from research and care practice discussed the state of technical development and the needs of care institutions. The event was organized by the “KI und Gesundheit” project.

Prof. Dr. Markus Rickert opened the talks with “Was können Roboter heute leisten und was nicht?”. He presented applications including transport tasks, assistance with handling objects, and social interaction. He explained the requirements for robots operating in changing environments and in direct contact with people. Alongside perception and motion control, the talk addressed communication, adaptability, and acceptance.

Prof. Rickert took part in the subsequent panel discussion, moderated by Prof. Dr. Astrid Schütz. A concluding World Café considered several care scenarios from different perspectives.
