Since 2012, I have been active in research and teaching in Science Education at the University of  Bamberg. After studying Biology at Goethe University Frankfurt, I completed my doctorate in Biology Education at the University of Bayreuth in 2015. In addition to my teaching experience at different types of schools, I have been particularly shaped by my many years of work in museum education. As a biology education researcher, my aim is to connect scientific knowledge with concrete action. I would like to share my enthusiasm for the diversity and wonder of living nature and, through initiatives such as the school apiary, UniGardening and mushroom cultivation, create learning spaces in which biology becomes tangible, connectedness to nature can grow and sustainable action is fostered.

Wednesday: 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

As I receive many enquiries by email that can often be clarified more quickly in person, I kindly ask you to discuss your concerns by phone during office hours whenever possible.

For questions regarding modules and course content, please first consult the relevant module handbook.
Enquiries regarding registration in FlexNow should be addressed directly to Ms Hanft.

My work and research focus on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and biodiversity education, with particular emphasis on solitary bees, school apiaries, school gardens and fungi. In this context, I am particularly interested in:

  • Citizen science in biology education through the project Solitary Bee Monitoring with Nesting Boxes
  • Social entrepreneurship education through the project Mushroom Cultivation in the Classroom
  • Digital media through the development and evaluation of the identification apps ID-Logics for wild bees and wasps
  • School apiaries through the project UniBiene
