FutureIOT

FutureIOT is a research network sponsored by the Bayerische Forschungsstiftung. The goal is the development of practice-oriented IoT-solutions in the fields of smart city and smart agriculture.

In the context of this project the university of Bamberg develops an IoT test environment in order to enable systematic long-term testing of sensor-based systems. The sensor data is compared with ground truth and external influences. This system supports IoT engineers in developing, maintaining and testing sensor-based systems. The test environment is developed using calibratable parking sensors. Those provide information about the current occupancy status of a single parking lot. Furthermore dashboards and a mobile application are planned for the parking scenario.

Another use case addresses the problem of logistics departments using tracking technologies to prove that they fulfil the regulations of the minimum wage law. Data privacy and data security play an important role here because of persons being tracked.
