From 8 to 9 December 2025, the DBU conference Preserving Heritage, Securing the Future – New Approaches to Climate Adaptation took place in Berlin. The KDwt's Professorship of Materials and Preservation Science co-organised the event, moderated a section and participated with its own presentation (and delivered two additional presentations due to illness-related absences).

As part of the block seminar ‘Historical Stoneworking’ for Digital Monument Technologies, we had the opportunity to work with stone ourselves at the Steinzentrum Wunsiedel. Many thanks to our enthusiastic colleagues there.

As part of the DBU-funded “Lichtschutz” project, the second expert meeting was held in March 2026 in the beautiful town of Wörlitz. We would like to thank the dedicated local organisers.  

Franziska Prell and Paul Bellendorf from the Professorship of Materials and Preservation Science gave a presentation in the auditorium on 23 April 2026 as part of the COST Action “Global Network on Cultural Heritage Conservation Under Climate Change (Go2CHANGE)”. Many thanks to all the active participants for their commitment and contributions. 

In May, Mechthild (Metti) Bohnert successfully defended her doctoral thesis, entitled “Vita und Werk des Oberhofgärtners Theodor II. Nietner. Eine gartenkünstlerische Einordnung”. Congratulations!
