In addition to the compulsory study of the module group General Pedagogy, the Bachelor's degree program in Pedagogy can be completed by choosing two study fields of specialization from the three areas of

  • Elementary and family education,
  • Adult education/continuing education or
  • Social pedagogy

Furthermore, the study program can be individualized via the choice of an additional minor.

The necessary interdisciplinarity is ensured by modules of the reference sciences psychology and sociology. The "General Professional Qualifying Competencies" and the accompanied internships guarantee a continuous professional orientation.

Your Career Prospects

With the academic degree of Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Bamberg, a professional activity in the broad spectrum of education can be taken up, with the exception of the school system.

Graduates in pedagogy work in the fields of education, teaching and counseling. They develop pedagogical concepts and compile learning content. They prepare these didactically and develop and test effective methods of education, upbringing and counseling. They are also active in practical educational, teaching and counseling work. For example, they support children in pre-school and after-school education and advise parents and teachers. Professionels in paedagogy help drug addicts or provide assistance to people dealing with their illness. They provide support and advice to individuals and families with social problems. In youth work, for example, they are involved in conducting anti-violence training. In adult education, for example, they design and hold events on vocational reintegration.

Other fields of work include experiential and recreational education, in-company continuing education, human resources/organizational development and consulting, and media education.

You can deepen the research methodological, subject-specific, subject-specific didactic and professional pedagogical competences acquired in the Bachelor's degree program in Pedagogy in a Master's degree program. This will open up further fields of activity and broaden your professional perspectives.
