The Art History programme covers European art from the Early Middle Ages to the present day, as well as the contemporary, international art that has grown out of this. The discipline of art history analyses art in its social context. It centres on questions regarding paintings, sculptures, architecture and new media. Studying Art History means placing works of art in context – historical, cultural, theological, literary, sociological among many others. This multi-faceted nature makes the subject both challenging and stimulating.
