As part of the 'Light Protection' research project, the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments is producing sample panels. These include a data logger for temperature, relative humidity and light. The University of Bamberg team tested the accuracy of the data loggers for temperature and relative humidity in the climatic test chamber.

The XXXI International Colloquium of the Corpus Vitrearum and the XII International Forum for the Conservation and Technology of Historic Stained Glass took place in Erfurt from 15 July to 19 July 2024. The Chair of Restoration Science was represented with the contribution "Documenting with shadows: On the visualisation of production features in stained glass windows". Once again this year, Prof. Dr. Merzenich from the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences offered a fresco course in which students could become active themselves.
 

Our colleague Martina Pristl was working with the mobile XRF at a rather unusual location.

The ageing tests on mock-ups of historical materials will continue in 2024. More on this at the final event of the research project "Development and exemplary application of an 'in situ' humidification method with monitoring concept using the example of an anthropogenically damaged large-format wooden panel painting" on 14/15 March 2024 in Freising.
