Outline
Successful smart city projects focus on citizens and their quality of life. At the same time, citizens as data collectors can help with the collection of environmental and other data. The PhD project is guided by the research questions:
- What factors influence the participation of citizens in public good-oriented data collection?
- What impact does this have on the quality of the available data, but also on the perception and acceptance of the sustainability transformation of cities?
To this end, a conceptual framework for the influencing factors will be developed in an interdisciplinary manner based on the following questions
- What makes citizen participation in data collection successful?
- For whom?
- Under what circumstances?
- Why?
This framework will be iteratively tested and refined in the context of two crowdsensing projects carried out within the Smart City Bamberg and one project outside Bamberg.
Planned results
- Conceptual framework of influencing factors
- Recommendations for action for crowdsensing in the context of Smart City projects
