The running course is marked with neon green arrows and boundary lines. Each kilometre is marked both on the running course on the ground and with a clearly visible sign at the edge.

The flat, almost traffic-free running course leads on asphalt, gravel and cycle paths through the southern Erba area, then along the Main-Danube canal or right arm of the Regnitz into the grove to the Hainspitze. From here the route continues along the left arm of the Regnitz, past the historic lock 100, along the towpath redesigned on the occasion of the State Garden Show to the crane, past the Old Town Hall, through the fishery. Then the course runs along the newly laid out riverside path, past the concert hall, over the new bridge footbridge (the former "Fünferlessteg") into the Erba area and there to the finish.

Relay teams will be relieved at the beverage station at Buger Spitze in Hainpark (approx. at kilometre 5.5).

In order to prevent unnecessary and energy-sapping overtaking manoeuvres immediately after the start, the starting grid will be divided into four blocks according to the finishing time: A, B, C, D

  • Runners who are expected to take longer than 60 minutes to complete the 10km race
should position themselves in Block D.
  • Runners expected to take 50-60 minutes to complete the 10km race will be placed in Block C.
  • Runners who are expected to take 40-50 minutes to complete the 10km race, please position yourselves in Block B.
  • Runners who are expected to run the 10 km in less than 40 minutes, please position yourself in Block A.

For the relay teams

  • Runner 1 will be positioned in one of the four blocks at the start, depending on the finish time of the relay team.
  • Runner 2 should be ready to take over at the latest from 10.15am in the handover zone at the drinks point at Buger Spitze (approx. 5.5km).

Please note: The transport of runner 2 and runner 1 to and from the race must be organised by the relay participants themselves.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at 12:00 noon in the courtyard of the Erba Campus.

The Bavarian University Champion 2023 and the Bavarian University Champion 2023 as well as the fastest Bamberg student will each receive a trophy (donated and presented by the President of the University of Bamberg). A non-cash prize will be awarded to the team of the Bavarian University Team Champion 2023 (women, men).

Valuable material prizes will be awarded to the three fastest male and female runners in the overall Volkslauf ranking. Prizes in kind will be awarded to the fastest runners in each of the age groups (m/f U 18 - m/f 75) of the fun run. A fruit basket will be awarded to the fastest and the largest team of the fun run.

As part of the Upper Franconian Championships, the winners in the individual age groups will receive certificates and medals.
