Study on the relationship between leadership behaviour and leader well-being has been published

A new study by Lennart Pötz and Judith Volmer entited "Exploring the Dynamic Relationship of Transformational Leadership Behavior and Leader Well-Being: A Three-Wave Cross-Lagged Panel Study" was published in Occupational Health Psychology. The article forms a part of Lennart Pötz's dissertation and illuminates the complex interdependence of leadership and leader wellbeing.

The three-week survey study of 132 participating managers was analysed with a random-intercept cross-lagged panel model to separate between-person and within-person effects. The results show that transformational leadership is positively associated with characteristics such as vigour and leaders' occupational self-efficacy. In addition, lagged effects were ascertained: Vigour in one week was positively associated with information exchange and the meaning of work in the next week. For managers, transformational leadership can therefore constitute a resource that is related to a higher leader well-being.
