Publication by Stefanie Richter-Killenberg and Judith Volmer in the Journal of Managerial Psychology on LMX and Wellbeing in Leadership

In a diary study on 85 managers over five consecutive workdays, Stefaine Richter-Killerberg and Judith Volmer investigated how LMX-oriented behaviour of managers towards coworkers is related to managers’ wellbeing and rest. Multilevel analyses indicated a positive relationship between LMX-oriented behaviours of managers and their positive affect and perceived competence. Moreover, the analyses demonstrated indirect effects of managers’ behaviour on work satisfaction and the evening disconnection of managers on higher positive affects and perceived competence. The study demonstrates that managers’ behaviour changes day-to-day and that managers themselves can profit from positive interactions with their coworkers.
