Short bio
Stefanie Ulschmid is a research associate at the Chair of Information Systems and Platform Economy since July 2024. Previously, she studied Business Administration at the University of Regensburg (B.Sc., Value Chain Management) and at the Otto-Friedrich-University of Bamberg (M.Sc., Strategy, Organization and Organizational Behaviour). During this time, she gained valuable international practical and academic experience through stays abroad in France, Italy and the Netherlands. She also gained hands-on experience in consulting, for example in the cloud and digital sector at PwC Germany. After completing her bachelor's degree, she worked as a project purchaser at Zollner Elektronik AG, a leading European EMS service provider.
In her research she examines how data move between organizations and IT systems and how they can be put to use again and again. Combining qualitative case studies with computational methods, she shows how value from data emerges from the interplay of people and technology.
She regularly reviews submitted articles for IS conferences such as ICIS, ECIS, WI, and HICSS. Additionally, she is a member of the AIS Special Interest Group for Data (SIG Data).
As part of university teaching, she currently supports the Master's seminar, the research project on Computational Intensive Theorizing (Master) and the module Digital Business (Bachelor). She also supervises students' seminar papers and theses.
