Petra Nägel began studying Biology and Chemistry at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1998. In 2005, she completed both a teacher-training degree for grammar schools and a Diplom degree in Biology. She subsequently completed her teacher training at Graf-Münster-Gymnasium in Bayreuth and initially taught at Gymnasium Gars and Helene-Lange-Gymnasium in Fürth. Since September 2012, she has been a teacher at Gymnasium Höchstadt, where she teaches Biology, Chemistry, Science and Technology, as well as Computer Science at lower secondary level. Since October 2023, she has also been a lecturer in Chemistry Education at the University of Bamberg.

Alongside her teaching, Petra Nägel serves as the school’s addiction prevention coordinator and chairs its staff council. She is also a jury member for “Jugend forscht”, an examiner in the selection process for highly gifted students applying to the Max Weber Programme, and the coordinator of the extracurricular courses Forensic Science and “School without Stress”.
