What does it mean for me to study Economics and Business Education? For one, I have a wide range of options in my degree course, with minor subjects and specialisations. For another, the doors to the business world and to practical teacher training will be open to me in the future. One thing I particularly like about my degree programme is that I’m also allowed to work on research projects at the relevant chairs, which offers me deeper insights into the subject matter and the state of research. As far as I’m concerned, the pedagogical content stands out in particular. At the University of Bamberg, there are many modules that prepare me for the challenges of teaching

Basically, I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. What fascinates me about primary school is that the focus is not only on imparting knowledge, but also on pedagogical interaction with children. Bamberg is perfect for this degree programme. Since it’s a fairly small university, the contact to the lecturers is very good. All four faculties at the university are involved in teacher training, which means that students also learn a lot about other fields. Bamberg also does a lot for its student teachers and strives continuously to improve teacher training.

I deliberately chose to pursue a teaching degree here in Bamberg, because Bamberg is a fairly small university and I hoped to avoid overcrowded lectures and to be more than just another number for my lecturers. For the most part, this has proven to be true; there are only a few overcrowded courses and I’ve found most of the lecturers to be very supportive. Also, the spontaneous night-time activities with the other students in the Sandstraße or on the Untere Brücke ensure that my time here in Bamberg is pretty enjoyable. Through my involvement in the Teacher Training Section of the Council of Student Representatives (LeB), I experience the university from another perspective, which has helped me grow as a person.

In Bamberg, my degree programme in Vocational Education/Social Pedagogy and Social Services is unique for the whole of Bavaria. That’s quite fortunate, because Bamberg is a beautiful small town, with short distances between individual university locations and fantastic leisure activities. The Vocational Education programme here is very versatile. You have the opportunity to study different fields, be it Education, Psychology or Sociology. With an additional subject from these disciplines, you will have a broad range of skills once you’ll graduate. There aren’t that many students in the programme so that you’ll get to know your fellow students really well.

For me, pursuing a teaching degree in Bamberg means: competent lecturers, practical relevance and a beautiful university town! I’m currently spending a semester abroad in Gothenburg, which I was able to do thanks to the great opportunities offered by the University of Bamberg. Still, I’m already looking forward to spending the next summer semester in Bamberg, because this is where I feel at home. In addition to the excellent support from the lecturers, Bamberg is simply beautiful! Friendly and welcoming, yet there’s always something going on. Whether it’s a coffee on the bridge, an ice cream by the river or a walk through the neighbouring forests – it has something for everyone!

My major goal is to receive a well-founded education, both in terms of content and methodology, for one of the most important professions in our society. The teacher training programme in Bamberg promises to provide practice-oriented training for the teaching profession in various seminars and other courses. In addition to the outstanding quality of academic teaching, the many leisure opportunities (e.g. culture or sport) outside the university are also a factor that makes Bamberg attractive.
