Public Theology Specialisation

The internship has a duration of eight weeks (minimum 280 hours) and must be completed during the semester break following the first or second semester of study. It is the students’ responsibility to find an internship position. The internship may be divided into no more than two subsections with no more than two employers. Suitable employers for the internship include the church or church-related welfare and social service organisations, civil society organisations (e. g. non-governmental organisations such as NGOs, political parties, foundations), enterprises, educational institutions (e. g. in adult and continuing education), or the media (e. g. journalism).

No later than four weeks after the last day of the eight-week internship, students must submit an internship certificate signed by the employer and the internship report to the Chair for Systematic Theology.

The written internship report (10-14 pages, to be completed no later than 8 weeks after the last day of the internship) should include the following:

Information on

  • the tasks, goals, methods/types of work performed in the internship;
  • the insights gained during the internship;
  • the relevance of the experiences gained during the internship with respect to the master’s degree specialisation in “Public Theology”.

Religion and Education Specialisation

Religion and Education Specialisation

The internship has a duration of four weeks (minimum 140 hours) and must be completed during the semester break following the first or second semester of study. It is the students’ responsibility to find an internship position. The internship may not be divided into subsections. Suitable employers in the context of religious education include church-sponsored (continuing education) institutions, media outlets, or enterprises working in religious or charitable domains.

No later than four weeks after the last day of the four-week internship, students must submit an internship certificate (169.0 KB) signed by the employer and the internship report to the Religious Education staff.

The written internship report (5-7 pages) should include the following:

  • information about the employer’s areas of professional activity
  • the tasks, goals, methods/types of work performed in the internship;
  • the insights gained during the internship;
  • the relevance of the experiences gained during the internship with respect to the master’s degree specialisation in “Religion and Education”.

Theological Studies Specialisation

Theological Studies Specialisation

The internship has a duration of four weeks (minimum 140 hours) and must be completed during the semester break following the first or second semester of study. It is the students’ responsibility to find an internship position. The internship may not be divided into subsections. Suitable employers in the context of religious education include church-sponsored continuing education institutions, congregations, museums, aid organisations, media, or private enterprises in need of theological expertise.

No later than four weeks after the last day of the four-week internship, students must submit an internship certificate (169.0 KB) signed by the employer and the internship report to the Religious Education staff.

The written internship report (5-7 pages) should include the following:

  • information about the employer’s areas of professional activity
  • the tasks, goals, methods/types of work performed in the internship;
  • the insights gained during the internship;
  • the relevance of the experiences gained during the internship with respect to the master’s degree specialisation in “Theological Studies”.
